Astronomical Observations

It has been found that each day on Prolifice lasts a full 20 hours, with an orbital period of 504 days. Prolifice also features a single moon, which has a phase cycle of 8 days, creating an environment with 8 day “months”. This effectively removes the concept of weeks from cultures on the planet. An additional secondary effect of this is an abnormal construction of paper calendars wherein pages are revealed from a rolling mechanism, each row containing 8 cells to represent each month, and a total of 63 rows to represent the 63 months in the year.

Calendar Systems

Universal Calendar

On this wiki, there are many references to a concept known as the Universal Calendar. Although this is not a calendar used by people who live on Terra, it is useful as a tool to explain the order of events and their location on the timeline.

In the Universal Calendar, the year 0 is taken to be the year in which the 2024IRL world started. Years that come before the 0 mark work similarly to the real life system of BCE and AD, except we simply use negative values to denote years before 0.

IDSOC Calendar

Over the course of their reign, IDSOC has spread a system of numbering based on the estimated start of their rule. Of course, due to the length of such a reign, it has been difficult to keep recordings of everything, but the currently accepted standard that the IDSOC calendar is exactly 100 years ahead of the Universal Calendar.

Seebian Calendar

The Seebian calendar is more complicated than those of IDSOC and the Universal Calendar. The current year is the number of years after the year in which the current Monarch began their rule. For example, during the fifth year of King Jack's rule, the year in the Seebian system would be 5.
